About

Hi, I’m Ashley the baker, recipe tester, and full-time crumb-cleaner behind Pinch of Warmth Bakes. If you’ve ever stared at a recipe wondering whether you’re about to waste perfectly good butter, you’re exactly who I make this site for.

I’m a home baker in California, and I do all my baking in a normal home kitchen, squeezed between school runs and snack requests. I’m not a pastry chef and I’ve never worked in a bakery. Everything I know, I learned the slow, messy, flour-on-the-floor way and that’s the whole point of this place.

How Pinch of Warmth Started

Baking became my thing after my daughter was born. Those early days at home were long, and preheating the oven and measuring out sugar turned out to be the small, calming ritual that got me through them. It was fifteen quiet minutes that were just mine.

My very first solo bake was a batch of chocolate chip cookies that spread into one giant flat sheet because I had no idea what “cream the butter” actually meant. I laughed, scraped it off the tray, and made them again the next day. That second batch wasn’t perfect either — but it was better, and I was hooked.

Now my little girl is my most honest taste-tester. If a cookie doesn’t get her stamp of approval, it doesn’t make it onto the site. I started Pinch of Warmth to be the encouraging voice I wished I’d had back then — a place where beginners can bake something lovely without the intimidating tone so many recipes have.

What You’ll Find Here

Every recipe on this site is written for someone who’s still a little nervous in the kitchen. No assumed knowledge, no fancy equipment you don’t own, and absolutely no shame if your first batch looks a bit wonky.

  • Cookies, cakes, cupcakes, muffins and breads — the cozy, everyday bakes people actually crave.
  • Step-by-step instructions with the little “don’t panic if…” notes I wish someone had given me.
  • Visual cues so you know what things should look like, not just how long to set a timer.
  • Real substitutions for when you’re missing an ingredient at 9pm and don’t want to load the kids in the car.

How I Test My Recipes

I bake everything in my own home oven — the kind that runs a little hot in one corner, just like yours might. I make each recipe more than once before it goes up, tweak the wording until my husband can follow it without asking me a single question, and only then do I hit publish. If a recipe needs professional gear to work, it doesn’t belong here.

A Little About Me Outside the Kitchen

When I’m not covered in flour, I’m usually chasing my daughter around or hunting for the best iced coffee in town. Married to a very patient man who has eaten more “experimental” cookies than any human should. My weakness is anything with brown butter in it — I have no self-control there and I’ve stopped pretending otherwise.

Let’s Bake Together

Whether you’re here for your very first batch of cookies or your fiftieth loaf of bread, I’m so glad you found this little corner of the internet. Pick a recipe that makes your mouth water, take it one step at a time, and remember: even a “failed” bake usually still tastes pretty good warm.

If you make something from the site, I’d genuinely love to hear how it turned out — the wins and the wonky ones. You can reach me any time through the contact page, and you can start browsing all my recipes right here.

Happy baking,
Ashley
