- Powdered Sugar
- Egg Yolk
- Vanilla Extract
- Salt
- Jam (Raspberry, Strawberry, or Apricot)
- Optional: Powdered Sugar for Decoration
- In a large bowl, cream together the cold butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies. Use a smaller heart-shaped cutter to cut out the centers of half of the cookies.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
- Spread a small amount of jam on the flat side of the whole cookies.
- Top with the cookies that have the heart-shaped cutouts.
- Optional: Dust with powdered sugar.
