  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

6. Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

7. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll each ball in powdered sugar.

8. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass.

9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set.

10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
