Ingredients

  • 2 sticks (1 cup) salted butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 1/4 cups holiday M&M’s
  • 1 cup mini pretzel sticks, crushed
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla until combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
  5. Beat in the 1 egg yolk.
  6. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to the bowl.
  7. Beat in the oats until just combined.
  8. Fold in 1 cup of the M&M's.
  9. Fold in the crushed mini pretzel sticks.
  10. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks.
  11. Fold in the white chocolate chips.
  12. Roll the dough into 1/4 cup size balls.
  13. Place the dough balls 3 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  14. Transfer the baking sheet to the oven.
  15. Bake for 8 minutes.
  16. Rotate the pan 180 degrees.
  17. Bake for another 2 minutes.
  18. Pull the pan out of the oven.
  19. Push the remaining 1/4 cup of M&M's into the warm cookies.
  20. Bake for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  21. Remove from the oven.
  22. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for at least 10-15 minutes.
  23. Eat warm or let cool completely.
  24. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
Do not overmix the dough once flour is added.
Rotating the pan ensures even baking.
Pressing M&M’s onto warm cookies adds a lovely finish.
